Wastewater Treatment Operator (WWT Operator)
Description
Leidos is currently seeking a Wastewater Treatment Operator (WWT Operator) to provide full time operation, repair and maintenance of a small-scale industrial dissolved air flotation (DAF) wastewater treatment plant. WWT Operator is responsible for onsite DAF operations (system operation, control and performance evaluation) to ensure industrial water quality meets the process needs and that effluent complies with discharge requirements of the facility permit(s).
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform O&M including operational checks, sampling and monitoring of pH, turbidity, temperature and surfactants, chemical calibration of pumps, bench top testing, equipment troubleshooting, and minor maintenance of mechanical components in accordance with equipment O&M Manuals.
- Schedule and oversee subcontractors conducting electrical and plumbing repairs of the system.
- Document compliance with project sampling procedures, including specific sample collection methods and documentation, complete daily logs and system documentation, and assist in data interpretation.
- May support sampling of groundwater, collecting water level data, and storm water sampling during precipitation events.
- Comply with Leidos site specific Health & Safety Plan.
- Communicate directly with the site facility engineer as well as the Leidos Project Engineer located in Oakland, CA.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent and at least 5 years' relevant experience treating industrial wastewater, to include: wastewater treatment plant operation, system monitoring, sampling, and operations/maintenance.
- Certified Wastewater Treatment Operator for Washington State, or in the process of becoming certified.
- Forklift certification or the ability to obtain qualification/certification.
- Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification with valid 8-Hour refresher training.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering field work in a safe manner.
- Ability to work independently to schedule and complete routine field duties.
- Good organizational and project documentation skills.
- Good communications skills and ability to proactively interact with client and Leidos team.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to work during night/weekend/extended hours occasionally as necessitated by site needs.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of DAF wastewater treatment systems with a Certified Level II wastewater treatment operator.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, gloves, hearing protection, respirators, and chemical-resistant clothing as required.
- Ability to enter confined spaces and perform confined space work in accordance with applicable regulations and training requirements.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment, tools, hoses, pumps, and sample containers weighing up to 70 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to perform field and plant operations activities requiring manual dexterity and the use of hand and power tools.
- Ability to work at elevated heights and safely climb ladders, platforms, and catwalks.
- Ability to distinguish colors, read gauges and instrumentation, and observe operating conditions for process monitoring and troubleshooting.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $50,700.00 - $91,650.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
