Sr. Accountant - Intangible Assets Accounting

Our client, an innovative and rapidly growing software technology company, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its finance team. This is a unique opportunity to work in a highly visible role supporting a global organization while enjoying the flexibility of a fully remote work environment.
This position will play a critical role in the monthly close process, general ledger management, audit support, and the accounting for internally developed software and intangible assets. The company recently implemented SAP, creating significant opportunities to drive process improvements and help shape best practices across the finance organization.

Qualifications:
Key Responsibilities
Intangible Assets & Software Capitalization
- Own the accounting, tracking, capitalization, and amortization of internally developed software costs in accordance with ASC 350-40
- Partner with engineering, product, and operational teams to ensure accurate project capitalization
- Maintain fixed asset and intangible asset schedules
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities
- Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and prepaids
- Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP
- Assist with financial reporting and audit preparation
- Manage AP processes within SAP
- Support billing and intercompany/cross-charge invoicing activities
- Reconcile AP and AR balances
- Support external audits and internal control processes
- Assist with tax-related requests and annual reporting requirements
- Prepare 1099 filings
- Maintain accounting policies and procedures
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls
- Support the continued optimization of SAP and finance workflows
- Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance reporting and operational efficiency
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 6-7+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
- 2+ years of experience with ASC 350, ASC 350-40, intangible assets, software capitalization.
- Candidates with ASC 805 purchase accounting and Purchase Price Allocation (PPA) experience are highly encouraged to apply
- SAP experience preferred; large ERP experience required
- Prior AP experience required
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
