Accounts Payable Clerk

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to support day-to-day payment operations for a contract assignment based in Lee's Summit, Missouri. This Contract position focuses on accurate invoice handling, payment processing, and financial record maintenance in a fast-paced accounting environment. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, sound coding accuracy, and the ability to manage recurring payables tasks with consistency and professionalism.

Responsibilities:
• Review incoming invoices for accuracy, completeness, and proper approval before processing payments.
• Assign correct general ledger or account codes to invoices and supporting documentation.
• Enter and maintain accounts payable transactions in the appropriate accounting system with a high level of precision.
• Prepare and process vendor payments through ACH transactions and scheduled check runs.
• Reconcile payment activity and resolve discrepancies by coordinating with internal teams and external vendors.
• Maintain organized accounts payable records to support audit readiness and reporting needs.
• Monitor payment timelines to help ensure obligations are met according to established terms.
• Assist with updates to payable workflows or systems when needed as part of ongoing operational support.

Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience working in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support function.
• Proficiency in coding invoices and assigning account information accurately.
• Working knowledge of ACH payment processing and routine check disbursement procedures.
• Ability to review financial documents carefully and identify errors or inconsistencies.
• Comfortable managing multiple invoices and deadlines in a detail-driven environment.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles related to payables and expense tracking.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with vendors and internal stakeholders professionally.

Compensation

$20.00-$23.00 Hourly
