Tax Manager - Public

Compensation: $120 to $135 Yearly

We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join a public accounting team in Richmond, Virginia. This role is responsible for leading tax engagements, overseeing compliance work, and advising clients on a range of business and individual tax matters. The ideal candidate brings strong technical tax knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering high-quality client service.

Responsibilities:
• Lead the preparation and review of annual income tax provisions to support accurate financial reporting and compliance.
• Manage corporate tax return engagements from planning through final filing, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and adherence to deadlines.
• Oversee sales and use tax work, including reviewing filings, identifying issues, and helping clients address state and local tax obligations.
• Advise clients on entity formation considerations, including tax implications and structuring options aligned with business goals.
• Review individual tax returns and provide guidance on complex tax situations affecting owners, executives, and other high-net-worth taxpayers.
• Supervise tax staff, delegate assignments effectively, and provide coaching to support technical development and performance.
• Maintain proficiency with ProSystem Fx and related tax applications to streamline workflow, documentation, and reporting.
• Communicate directly with clients to resolve tax matters, explain findings, and recommend practical solutions based on current regulations.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing annual income tax provisions in a public accounting environment.
• Strong background in corporate tax return preparation and review for a variety of business entities.
• Working knowledge of sales and use tax requirements and the ability to identify compliance risks.
• Experience advising on entity formation and related tax planning considerations.
• Proficiency in preparing or reviewing individual tax returns with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Familiarity with ProSystem Fx or comparable tax software used in public accounting.
• Proven ability to manage multiple engagements, meet deadlines, and lead team members effectively.

Compensation

$120,000.00-$135,000.00 Yearly
