Project Accountant

We are looking for a Project Accountant to join a growing team in Lynnfield, Massachusetts. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for someone who enjoys supporting project financial operations, maintaining accurate accounting records, and partnering with internal stakeholders to keep project reporting on track. The position will focus on billing, reconciliations, ledger activity, and transactional accounting within a project-based environment.

Responsibilities:

• Manage invoicing for active projects, ensuring customer billing is timely, accurate, and aligned with contract terms.

• Reconcile accounts on a regular basis to identify discrepancies, resolve outstanding items, and maintain reliable financial records.

• Record and review general ledger activity to support accurate month-end and ongoing accounting processes.

• Prepare journal entries with appropriate documentation and ensure financial transactions are posted correctly.

• Process accounts payable transactions, including invoice review, coding, and payment coordination.

• Oversee accounts receivable activity by tracking incoming payments, following up on outstanding balances, and supporting cash application.

• Monitor project costs and profitability by maintaining job cost records and analyzing expenses against budgets.

• Contribute to construction and project accounting activities by supporting financial reporting and project-level analysis.

Qualifications:

• Experience in project accounting, preferably within construction or other project-driven environments.
• Working knowledge of billing, account reconciliation, and general ledger accounting principles.
• Ability to prepare and post journal entries accurately and efficiently.
• Hands-on experience with both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Familiarity with job costing and tracking project-related financial performance.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven setting.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate with project teams and accounting staff.

Compensation

$30.00-$40.00 Hourly
