The Non-Profit/ Financial Services Organization we are helping is a mission-driven organization dedicated to improving financial well-being and expanding access to financial services for underserved communities. Through innovative programs, financial education, lending solutions, and community partnerships, they help individuals and companies. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join their growing finance team. This role is ideal for a collaborative accounting professional who is passionate about supporting a meaningful mission while ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and operational excellence.

Position Summary

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization's day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening financial processes, supporting audits, and providing leadership within the finance function.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting & Financial Operations

• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of all accounting transactions.
• Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and cash management activities.
• Monitor and maintain internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

• Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and nonprofit accounting standards.
• Assist with preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
• Coordinate and support annual financial audits and tax filings, including Form 990.
• Manage grant accounting and restricted fund reporting as applicable.

Leadership & Process Improvement

• Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
• Develop and document accounting policies and procedures.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.
• Collaborate with program and operational leaders to support organizational goals and funding requirements.

Qualifications:

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
• Experience working within community development financial institutions (CDFIs), credit unions, banks, financial services, or related sectors.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and audit support.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred

• CPA
• Experience in nonprofit accounting
• Knowledge of grant accounting and fund accounting.
• Experience with ERP or nonprofit financial management systems.

Compensation

$110,000.00-$125,000.00 Yearly
