Payroll Specialist

We are looking for a dependable Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for a construction company in Chino Hills, California. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can step in quickly, work with minimal supervision, and help ensure accurate weekly payroll processing for a growing workforce. The role supports payroll compliance, certified reporting, and related payment activities in a fast-paced onsite environment.

Responsibilities:
• Process weekly payroll for approximately 81 employees, ensuring hours, earnings, and deductions are entered accurately and on schedule.
• Review timecards, assign appropriate cost codes, and verify payroll details before final submission.
• Reconcile payroll information across systems and complete timely payroll transmission each week.
• Administer related payroll disbursements, including workers’ compensation payments, retirement contributions, child support, and wage garnishments.
• Prepare and issue live checks, maintain direct deposit activity, and support accurate employee payment records.
• Complete certified payroll reporting and submit required documentation through LCPtracker and other reporting platforms.
• Handle payroll records, backup documentation, and PDF files with a high level of accuracy and organization.
• Process recurring commission payments and provide payroll support to the Controller as needed.

Qualifications:

• Prior experience managing payroll independently, preferably in a weekly payroll environment.
• Hands-on knowledge of certified payroll and compliance reporting requirements.
• Experience using LCPtracker and related reporting tools in a construction or contractor setting.
• Proficiency with payroll systems such as SurePayroll; familiarity with Sage Master Builder is a plus.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook for routine payroll tasks and communication.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive payroll information.
• Ability to work onsite on a part-time schedule and contribute effectively with minimal training.

Compensation

$26.91-$31.16 Hourly
