Associate

We are looking for an attorney to join a respected plaintiff-side practice in Coventry, Rhode Island Area, focused on employment and civil rights matters. This role offers the chance to handle meaningful litigation work from initial case evaluation through trial preparation and resolution while working in a collaborative, high-performance environment. The position is well suited for a lawyer who thrives in court-focused advocacy, values direct client engagement, and wants to build a long-term practice with room for growth.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a personal docket of employment litigation matters from intake through settlement, dispositive motion practice, or trial in state, federal, and administrative forums.

• Interview clients, assess claims, and maintain consistent communication throughout each phase of representation to deliver a high level of client service.

• Prepare persuasive pleadings, written motions, discovery requests and responses, and other litigation materials that support case strategy.

• Take and defend depositions, develop factual records, and coordinate evidence gathering to strengthen claims and prepare matters for resolution or trial.

• Appear regularly before courts and administrative bodies for conferences, hearings, and other proceedings related to active cases.

• Contribute to case strategy by evaluating legal issues, identifying risks, and shaping arguments for employment and related civil rights matters.

• Assist with litigation involving alleged civil rights violations, including matters connected to unlawful searches or excessive force, as needed.

• Work independently while partnering with paralegal and administrative team members to keep cases organized, moving, and trial-ready.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor degree and active Rhode Island bar admission, or eligibility and willingness to obtain admission in Rhode Island.
• At least 2 years of litigation experience, with prior work in employment or civil rights disputes strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to oversee cases through multiple stages of litigation with limited day-to-day supervision.
• Strong skills in legal research, written advocacy, oral argument, and overall courtroom communication.
• Experience drafting motions, handling discovery, and participating in depositions in civil litigation matters.
• Ability to manage a demanding workload effectively in a fast-paced plaintiff-side or comparable litigation setting.
• Massachusetts bar admission is advantageous but not required.
• Candidates from defense-side backgrounds will be considered if they have a sincere interest in representing plaintiffs.

Compensation

$100,000.00-$175,000.00 Yearly
