Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support essential accounting operations for a local government organization in Upland, California. This Long-term Contract position focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with reconciliations, and contributing to reliable reporting processes. The ideal candidate brings strong Excel capabilities, practical accounting experience, and the ability to manage recurring financial tasks with accuracy and consistency.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and record journal entries to maintain accurate and timely financial data.
• Perform bank account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to ensure account accuracy.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including reviewing transactions and resolving outstanding items.
• Assist with audit preparation by organizing documentation and responding to requests for financial support.
• Reconcile downloaded and manually entered financial reports to verify completeness and correctness.
• Maintain general ledger records and help ensure transactions are properly classified.
• Contribute to tax-related accounting support, including sales tax and corporate tax documentation as needed.

Qualifications:

• Experience working in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role.
• Strong proficiency in Excel, including the ability to analyze reports and perform detailed reconciliations.
• Hands-on experience with journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and account reconciliation.
• Working knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Familiarity with audit support activities and preparing financial documentation.
• Understanding of tax-related accounting, including sales tax and corporate tax concepts.
• High attention to detail and ability to manage recurring deadlines in a structured environment.

Compensation

$30.09-$34.84 Hourly
