Accountant III

THREE MONTH CONTRACT - $35-40/HR - **Accountant III** monitors and manages complex financial activities within an organizational unit, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and integrity of financial records and reporting. This role performs advanced accounting functions including oversight of revenue and expenditure processing, reconciliation of key accounts, and maintenance of financial systems and databases. The Accountant III prepares detailed financial statements, projections, and analytical reports to support management decisions and funding requirements, while identifying trends and recommending strategies for asset utilization and cost control. In addition, this position ensures compliance with university policies and local, state, and federal regulations, supports internal controls within the financial system, and may supervise accounting staff including training, workflow management, and performance oversight.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in advanced accounting work with responsibility for complex financial records and reporting.
• Hands-on knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting processes.
• Ability to prepare accurate journal entries and complete detailed bank and account reconciliations.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, research discrepancies, and present clear financial findings.
• Familiarity with financial compliance standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in using accounting systems and spreadsheets to manage data and generate reports.
• Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
