Medical Billing Clerk
Responsibilities:
• Assist with day-to-day billing activities by supporting claim preparation, review, and submission processes.
• Help ensure claims are filed accurately and within required timeframes to support efficient reimbursement.
• Respond professionally to questions from insurance representatives, patients, family members, and internal staff, directing issues to the appropriate team members when needed.
• Maintain organized paper and digital billing documentation to support compliance and easy record retrieval.
• Review billing system work queues, shared inboxes, and fax communications to address outstanding items promptly.
• Provide administrative support for charge entry, claim verification, claim scrubbing, and related billing tasks.
• Complete assigned work with strong attention to accuracy, deadlines, and established workflow expectations.
• Protect confidential patient, payer, and organizational information in accordance with privacy and compliance standards.
• Contribute to dependable team operations through consistent attendance, punctuality, and completion of additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent.• At least 1 year of experience in medical billing or a similar healthcare administrative setting is preferred.
• Working knowledge of medical billing processes, medical claims, and basic health information management practices.
• Familiarity with medical and surgical terminology and the ability to apply it in billing-related work.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, general computer applications, and billing systems; experience with tools such as ePaces is a plus.
• Ability to handle charge entry, claims support, medical collections, or payment-related tasks with a high level of accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, discretion with protected health information, and ability to meet background screening requirements.
