Housing Specialist

New Orleans, LA 70127, US Contract
Compensation: $18 to $20 Hourly

We are looking for a detail-oriented individual to support technology-focused administrative operations for a nonprofit organization in New Orleans, Louisiana. This short-term contract to permanent opportunity is ideal for someone who can coordinate information, communicate effectively with staff and vendors, and keep multiple priorities organized in a fast-paced environment. The person in this role will help strengthen day-to-day IT department activities through strong customer service, documentation, and follow-through.


Responsibilities:

• Coordinate technology-related purchasing activities by preparing requests, following up with suppliers, monitoring order status, and helping maintain policy compliance.

• Provide administrative support for departmental initiatives by organizing records, tracking milestones, and assisting with communication among internal stakeholders and external partners.

• Maintain IT-related content on the organization's WordPress site, ensuring updates are accurate, timely, and well presented.

• Create, submit, and monitor service tickets while keeping clear records and providing status updates to employees as issues move toward resolution.

• Serve as a point of contact between the IT team and agency staff, helping ensure inquiries are handled appropriately and responses are communicated promptly.

• Prepare spreadsheets, reports, correspondence, and other business documents using Microsoft Office applications to support departmental operations.

• Manage email communication, scheduling needs, and routine administrative coordination to help the department stay organized and responsive.

• Assist with phone coverage and information gathering by handling inbound and outbound calls with accuracy and care.


Qualifications:

• Prior experience in an administrative support role, preferably in a department that manages technical, operational, or project-based work.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly by phone, email, and in person.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint for document preparation, tracking, and communication.
• Experience entering and maintaining accurate data across spreadsheets, logs, or internal systems.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments, monitor deadlines, and maintain organized records with close attention to detail.
• Comfortable coordinating appointments, follow-ups, and routine communications across teams and vendors.
• Familiarity with handling service requests, procurement support, or website content updates is preferred.
• High level of professionalism, reliability, and discretion when working with internal staff and external contacts.

Compensation

$18.00-$20.00 Hourly
