Staff Accountant

Jamie Benway with Robert Half is looking for a Staff Accountant to join a growing Hi Tech Engineering organization in Portland, Oregon. This fully onsite role offers the chance to contribute to a collaborative accounting team while supporting day-to-day financial operations in a fast-evolving business environment. The position is well suited for someone who brings strong fundamentals in accounting, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with local and remote stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and record journal entries accurately and on schedule to support monthly accounting activities.

• Maintain the general ledger and review account activity to ensure financial records remain complete and reliable.

• Assist with month-end and year-end close tasks, including reconciliations and supporting documentation.

• Partner with the Controller, finance leadership, and broader accounting team to address reporting needs and resolve discrepancies.

• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances to improve accuracy across financial statements.

• Support accounting operations for a growing office presence and help establish consistent onsite financial processes.

• Contribute to integration-related accounting tasks associated with business acquisitions when needed.

• Help strengthen internal controls, documentation practices, and workflow efficiency within the accounting function.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience preparing journal entries and working within a general ledger environment.
• Solid understanding of core accounting principles and financial statement impact.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both onsite and remote team members.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Internship experience or early-career accounting experience may be considered for strong candidates.
