Project Accounting and Finance Consultant

We are seeking experienced Project Accounting & Finance professionals for contract engagements ranging from Senior Accountant and Financial Analyst roles to Controller, Director of Finance, and CFO-level assignments. These consultants support organizations through critical initiatives, including system implementations, process improvements, audit readiness, financial close acceleration, and leadership coverage.

This role is ideal for adaptable professionals who thrive in dynamic environments and can quickly add value across accounting and finance functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead or support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Manage general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
• Provide financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting support to guide business decisions
• Oversee or assist with project-based initiatives such as ERP implementations, system upgrades, and process automation
• Support audit readiness and compliance, including preparation of schedules and coordination with external auditors
• Evaluate and improve internal controls, workflows, and accounting processes
• Partner cross-functionally with operations, HR, FP& A, and executive leadership
• Deliver executive-level reporting and insights for senior stakeholders (Controller/CFO-level engagements)
• Step into interim leadership roles to manage teams, stabilize operations, and drive accountability

Typical Engagement Areas

• Interim backfill (leave coverage, turnover, or vacancy gaps)
• ERP implementations (SAP, Oracle, Workday, NetSuite, etc.)
• M& A support (integration, carve-outs, due diligence)
• Financial clean-up and catch-up projects
• Audit preparation and remediation
• Process improvement and documentation

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred for senior-level roles)
• Progressive experience across accounting and finance functions, with the ability to operate at varying levels depending on engagement
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday, NetSuite, PeopleSoft)
• Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
• Proven ability to quickly assess business needs and implement solutions
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels, including executive leadership
