Senior Fund Accountant
Menlo Park, CA (Hybrid Schedule)
$145,000 – $175,000 + Bonus + Comprehensive Benefits
A highly respected institutional investment management firm is seeking a Senior Fund Accountant to join its Financial Operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional interested in expanding their expertise across a broad range of alternative investments, including private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, real assets, and public market strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Review monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages prepared by third-party fund administrators, including NAV calculations and supporting schedules.
- Oversee the preparation and distribution of investor capital account statements.
- Monitor and review regulatory, compliance, and financial reporting requirements.
- Coordinate and oversee annual audit engagements with external auditors and service providers.
- Review expense allocations and ensure proper treatment across multiple investment products and structures.
- Monitor separately managed accounts and ensure compliance with investment management agreements.
- Manage data collection, reporting, and information requests from underlying investment managers.
- Identify operational efficiencies and strengthen internal controls and oversight processes.
- Partner closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in public accounting, fund administration, investment management, or alternative investment accounting.
- Exposure to private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, fund-of-funds, or other alternative investment structures.
- Strong understanding of partnership accounting principles and investment fund operations.
- Ability to review complex financial information and identify potential risks or discrepancies.
- Experience managing external service providers and navigating multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- CPA designation (active or inactive) is preferred but not required.
