JOB DESCRIPTION

Inventory Control Tech

Union T24: $28.84 Per Hour

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills.

SUMMARY
Under direct supervision, works in cooperation with the Material Coordinator to maintain and stock an adequate supply of material for daily operations, process issues, returns and salvage of material through the computer inventory tracking system

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receives incoming materials or items, checks count and item against shipping documents, and purchases orders
Inspects shipment condition and accepts into warehouse
Operates forklifts for loading and unloading of material or Items
Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code; marks materials with identifying information; opens crates, and other containers
Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed; assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves
Weighs or counts items for distribution within warehouse to ensure conformance to company standard
Drives vehicle to transport stored items from warehouse to construction site or to pick up items from other locations for shipment
Prepares parcels for mailing and maintains inventory records
Maintains cleanliness in the warehouse area
Performs other duties as assigned  

COMPETENCIES:
Knowledge of the corporate mission, financial, and customer service goals
Knowledge of operations, maintenance, and construction functions of the company and their relationship to procurement, warehouse and material replenishment
Knowledge of control of net costs of materials and services
Knowledge of inventory control and procurement techniques
        
Knowledge of vendor base          
Excellent listening and observation skills
Ability to maintain positive and productive working relationships with various individuals and groups  

QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:       
High school degree or GED with three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.      

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:      
Must possess current, legally valid driver license and meet the Company driving record requirements.        

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:   
Ability to read and interpret documents such as: construction drawings, maps, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals   
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence     
Ability to speak effectively    

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:    
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals   
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs      

COMPUTER SKILLS
Strong computer skills and knowledge of database, spreadsheet, and word processing software

ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY:      
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.      

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:        
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and/or walk up to 2/3 of the time. 
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
