Function/Duties of Position

The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the University’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. This appointee has special skills, experience or demonstrated competence in performing assigned duties.

 

May teach support staff in their area of professional expertise.  Teaching may be done through didactic assigned lectures and through teaching in the course of performing their own job by modeling appropriate practices, mentoring trainees and assisting with the learning process in the clinical, research, or education venues.

 

Provides and collaborates with others to provide an outstanding level of professional performance (e.g. quality of investigation for research faculty; quality of clinical care for clinical faculty).  Professional performance is delivered in a manner that is compliant with the regulations and guidelines of all relevant regulating bodies (e.g. the ASA, JCAHO, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, OHSU IRB, NIH, and all other state, federal, and institutional regulatory agencies). Treats all patients, research subjects, trainees, and co-workers with dignity and respect.

 

May participate in a program of scholarly research activity directed toward improved understanding of the causes, detection, and treatment of diseases.  May also engage in public service through collaborative consultative activities with OHSU and non-University groups as approved by the Chair or supervisor. 


Required Qualifications
  • Doctorate in medicine, residency training in an accredited specialty and Pain Fellowship.
  • Demonstrated competence in patient care & teaching.
  • Board certification or eligibility for board certification in Pain Medicine is required.
  • Ideal candidates will have interest and expertise in research/scholarship/discovery.
