Senior Mechanical Engineer
Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team in Johnstown, PA. This role will serve as a technical leader responsible for the design, development, analysis, and support of complex mechanical systems and assemblies. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in mechanical design, advanced CAD modeling, simulation, product data management, and product development, with expert proficiency in SolidWorks.
This position offers the opportunity to work on various engineering projects from concept through production while collaborating with production teams to develop innovative and reliable solutions for mission-critical applications.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Lead the design and development of mechanical assemblies and systems from concept through production.
- Create and maintain complex 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and engineering documentation using SolidWorks.
- Lead the implementation and maintenance of SolidWorks PDM
- Perform advanced modeling, analysis, and SolidWorks' Simulation activities to validate designs and optimize performance.
- Provide technical leadership and design support throughout the product lifecycle, including prototyping, testing, manufacturing, and field support.
- Conduct engineering calculations, tolerance analyses, and design reviews to ensure compliance and quality.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply, and management teams to support successful product execution.
- Troubleshoot design, manufacturing, and operational issues while developing effective corrective actions.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices, standards, and process improvements.
- Support customer interactions, technical presentations, and design reviews as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 8+ years of mechanical design and product development experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Experience supporting defense, aerospace, and highly engineered products.
- Expertise in SolidWorks, including advanced modeling, assemblies, configurations, drawings, and design documentation.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and GD&T.
- Experience performing engineering calculations, structural analysis, and design validation activities.
- Ability to lead technical projects and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to learn and apply new information and/or skills. Must be able to interpret data, information, and documents. Other applicable requirements include the following:
- Occasional Travel may be required - 20%
- Occasionally will need to lift/and or move up to 45lbs.
- Moderate environment temperature and noise level.
- Regularly works around moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity. Noise level may be loud at times.
