Position Summary
The Manufacturing Fundamentals Faculty is responsible for delivering foundational instruction as part of the Advanced Manufacturing Mobility Hub, a grant-funded workforce initiative that includes non-credit training pathways in CNC Machining, Electro-Mechanical Technology (EMT), Welding, Naval Welding, and Nondestructive Testing (NDT). These programs align with High Priority Occupations and industry-recognized credential pathways that support entry into the regional advanced manufacturing workforce.
The faculty supports the Mobility Hub by providing integrated, hands-on instruction in technical math, measurement, safety, blueprint reading, materials, and tool usage. This role prepares participants to transition into advanced, discipline-specific training by ensuring foundational competency, career awareness, and readiness for industry-aligned credential pathways.
Instruction emphasizes applied learning, safety, and workforce readiness, aligning foundational manufacturing knowledge with real-world applications across multiple advanced manufacturing disciplines.
Essential Responsibilities
- Deliver instruction in Manufacturing Fundamentals aligned with Mobility Hub curriculum, including:
- Technical math and measurement
- Blueprint reading and interpretation
- OSHA safety principles and workplace practices
- Use of hand tools, layout tools, and foundational manufacturing equipment
- Provide hands-on, applied instruction that connects foundational concepts to advanced manufacturing pathways including CNC, EMT, Welding, Naval Welding, and NDT.
- Prepare students to successfully transition from foundational coursework into advanced technical training programs.
- Introduce students to core manufacturing concepts, including materials, machining and welding fundamentals, and industry practices.
- Support development of career awareness by guiding students in understanding manufacturing career pathways and industry expectations.
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress, including competency attainment and OSHA-related outcomes.
- Integrate employability skills, including teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and workplace professionalism.
- Create an inclusive and supportive learning environment for diverse adult learners.
- Participate in program-related activities, including student engagement, recruitment, and coordination with Workforce Development and employer partners.
- Engage in continuous improvement of instruction based on program outcomes, student feedback, and industry alignment.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of Mobility Hub instructional delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in advanced manufacturing or a closely related industrial field.
- Demonstrated ability to teach or train adult learners in technical or applied subjects.
- Strong understanding of foundational manufacturing competencies across multiple of the following areas:
- Machining or CNC fundamentals
- Welding or fabrication processes
- Technical math and measurement
- Blueprint reading and materials interpretation
- OSHA safety and industrial workplace practices
- Ability to deliver hands-on, applied instruction aligned to workforce training outcomes.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills.
- Commitment to supporting diverse and non-traditional student populations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior teaching or workforce training experience in non-credit or technical education settings.
- Industry certifications such as OSHA Trainer, NIMS, AWS, or related credentials.
- Experience supporting integrated or multi-pathway training models across advanced manufacturing disciplines.
- Experience working with adult learners or workforce development populations.
- Familiarity with industry-aligned credential pathways in manufacturing sectors.
