The Role:
Northrop Grumman Australia is growing the Triton team and looking for an Cyber Security Operations Specialist who wants to be closer to the action, in this brand new role.
You’ll be working hands-on across Triton mission systems, identifying vulnerabilities, investigating incidents, and improving how the environment is secured over time.
The system itself is complex. It spans multiple locations, environments and technologies that don’t always integrate cleanly. That means real problem solving, working across logs, and patching gaps.
If you’re used to only seeing alerts or working in a tightly controlled SOC, this gives you far more visibility and ownership. You’ll be closer to the systems, making decisions that directly improve the security posture of a critical Defence capability.
The MQ‑4C Triton is a Triton is a long-endurance, high-altitude unmanned aircraft system delivering real-time intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capability for the ADF. It’s a first-of-type platform in Australia, combining advanced systems, networks and data flows that need to be secured in a highly controlled Defence environment.
This role is Adelaide-based (RAAF Edinburgh). Australian Citizenship and NV1 clearance is required to be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Real systems. Issue investigation. Improve how the environment is secured over time.
- Manage vulnerabilities end-to-end, scanning, tracking exposures, and reporting outcomes
- Investigate security events and incidents across multiple systems and environments
- Analyse logs across systems where visibility is not fully centralised
- Support continuous monitoring and improve how risks are identified and reported
- Work with engineering and system administration teams to implement practical security improvements
- Contribute to strengthening processes in a maturing cyber environment
About You
You’re practical and technical. You like getting into systems and figuring out what’s actually going on.
- Experience in cyber operations, SOC, systems or network security (approx. 3+ years)
- Comfortable working across Windows and Linux environments
- Hands-on with vulnerability management, log analysis or incident response
- You don’t rely on perfect tooling, as you can work across systems and piece things together
- Clear communicator when explaining risk or issues to others
You might be:
- A SOC analyst looking for more ownership and system access
- A system admin or network engineer with security exposure
- Already in cyber operations and want something more complex and meaningful
