Controller
Responsibilities:
• Direct the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycle to deliver complete and accurate financial reporting on schedule.
• Prepare and review financial statements, supporting schedules, and related disclosures in alignment with U.S. accounting standards.
• Supervise general ledger activity and verify that financial transactions are recorded correctly across all major accounts.
• Partner with business leadership on budgets, forecasts, and financial variance reviews to support informed decision-making.
• Evaluate technical accounting issues, document conclusions, and recommend appropriate treatment to company leadership.
• Lead cost accounting and inventory oversight, including valuation methods, reserve analysis, and supporting audit documentation.
• Manage core accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, treasury activity, and regulatory filings.
• Maintain employer tax accounts and oversee required state and federal filings to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Strengthen internal controls, refine accounting procedures, and support improvements to systems, including the transition from Global Shop to Sispro.
• Serve as the main contact for external auditors while coaching and overseeing accounting staff, including direct reports responsible for AP and AR.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role within a small to mid-sized business environment.• Strong knowledge of financial close, financial statement preparation, and U.S. GAAP-based accounting practices.
• Hands-on background managing general ledger activity, payroll, payables, receivables, and tax compliance.
• Experience with cost accounting, inventory controls, and valuation methods in an operating company setting.
• Ability to design, implement, and monitor internal controls and accounting policies.
• Demonstrated success leading or mentoring accounting staff and coordinating workloads across a small team.
• Comfortable working onsite in Commerce, Georgia and partnering directly with executive leadership.
• Experience with ERP or accounting system improvements; familiarity with Global Shop or Sispro is preferred.
