Income Tax Specialist
Responsibilities:
• Prepare federal corporate income tax returns and support the completion of related schedules and documentation.
• Coordinate the preparation and filing of state and local income and franchise tax returns, including extensions and estimated payments.
• Perform calculations related to apportionment, state-specific modifications, and net operating loss utilization to support accurate reporting.
• Track jurisdictional filing obligations and maintain calendars to ensure all tax submissions are completed on time.
• Address tax notices and assist with audit examinations by gathering records, drafting responses, and providing requested information.
• Research technical tax matters such as nexus, apportionment methodologies, and regulatory developments, then summarize findings for practical application.
• Review legislative and regulatory updates to identify potential impacts, risks, and compliance considerations for the organization.
• Work with cross-functional stakeholders to collect data, resolve tax-related questions, and support corporate tax compliance activities.
Qualifications:
• At least 5 years of experience in federal and state income or franchise tax within a corporate tax department or public accounting environment.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of corporate income and franchise tax principles, including nexus, apportionment, and unitary reporting concepts.
• Experience preparing corporate tax filings across multiple jurisdictions and supporting compliance deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and tax compliance software; familiarity with enterprise tax systems is advantageous.
• Ability to interpret tax statutes, regulations, and guidance and apply them to practical business situations.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with careful attention to accuracy and detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and manage competing priorities.
Compensation
