Senior Linux Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Linux Engineer to join a contract-to-permanent opportunity in Salt Lake City, Utah. In this role, you will help maintain stable, secure, and high-performing Linux environments while supporting critical print and infrastructure services. This position is ideal for an experienced systems specialist who is comfortable working across server administration, cloud infrastructure, troubleshooting, and operational documentation.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee the daily administration of enterprise Linux servers, ensuring consistent performance, availability, and system reliability.
• Maintain and support Linux instances hosted in AWS EC2, including coordination with VPC configurations, connectivity needs, and security group settings.
• Administer print infrastructure by managing print servers, queue configurations, device definitions, and issue resolution for network-connected printers.
• Carry out routine maintenance activities such as patch deployment, version upgrades, service restarts, and production incident handling.
• Develop and refine shell-based automation to reduce manual effort and improve the efficiency of recurring operational tasks.
• Partner with application support, networking, and service desk teams to diagnose and resolve Linux and print-related service disruptions.
• Produce and update runbooks, technical standards, and support documentation to strengthen operational consistency and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of hands-on experience supporting Linux systems in enterprise environments.
• Strong expertise with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration and troubleshooting.
• Practical experience managing infrastructure within Amazon Web Services, especially EC2 and VPC environments.
• Knowledge of print server administration, network printers, print queues, and related troubleshooting methods.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts and the ability to investigate connectivity and service issues across systems.
• Proficiency in Unix shell scripting for automation, maintenance, and system administration tasks.
• Ability to document procedures clearly and collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical teams.

Compensation

$65.00-$75.00 Hourly
