Assistant Controller
Responsibilities:
• Direct end-to-end accounting activities and maintain accurate, timely financial reporting across routine operations.
• Guide and coach entry-level accounting team members working remotely, offering consistent support, feedback, and problem-solving assistance.
• Review reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end processes to ensure strong controls and dependable results.
• Partner with leadership on complex finance initiatives, including analysis and documentation connected to refinancing efforts and quality of earnings review.
• Apply consumer packaged goods accounting knowledge to areas such as trade accruals, deductions, promotions, rebates, and retailer program impacts.
• Evaluate gross-to-net activity and customer-related financial arrangements to improve clarity around revenue and margin performance.
• Support accounting priorities related to operational projects, including coordination with evolving third-party logistics processes as needed.
• Use NetSuite and other financial tools to monitor accounting activity and help maintain efficient workflows.
Qualifications:
• Strong background in full-cycle accounting with the ability to oversee day-to-day financial operations independently.
• Prior experience in consumer packaged goods environments with a clear understanding of trade-related accounting concepts.
• Knowledge of trade accruals, deduction management, gross-to-net accounting, promotional spending, and customer pricing structures.
• Demonstrated success mentoring or supervising accounting staff, particularly in remote or distributed team settings.
• Ability to contribute at a senior level to audit-style financial analysis, including work associated with refinancing or quality of earnings reviews.
• Familiarity with NetSuite is preferred.
• Availability to work standard business hours for an initial contract expected to last 1 to 3 months, with potential for extension.
***Trade experience within Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) and someone who understands the language is a must.
