Senior Property Accountant
We are looking for an experienced Property Accountant to support a commercial real estate portfolio. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented finance specialist who brings strong technical accounting knowledge, thrives in a deadline-driven environment, and can deliver reliable reporting across multiple properties. The role calls for someone who can evaluate financial results, resolve discrepancies, and contribute to a well-organized accounting operation while collaborating with management and property teams.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and finalize monthly financial statements for assigned properties, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely submission.
• Support audit activities by organizing schedules, responding to documentation requests, and assisting the Accounting Manager throughout review cycles.
• Manage the accounting onboarding process for newly assigned properties, including setup, balance validation, and coordination with internal stakeholders.
• Monitor day-to-day property accounting activity to maintain dependable financial records and consistent operational output.
• Review general ledger activity, accruals, and reconciliations to identify variances, investigate issues, and recommend corrective action.
• Oversee scheduled payment processing and confirm that reporting deliverables and disbursement deadlines are met without exception.
• Perform bank reconciliations and month-end close tasks while maintaining compliance with established accounting procedures.
• Share subject matter knowledge with less experienced team members and assist with training efforts for new accounting staff.
Qualifications:
• At least 4 years of progressively responsible property accounting experience within commercial real estate.• Hands-on experience with property accounting platforms such as Yardi or MRI.
• Strong understanding of month-end close, accrual accounting, general ledger maintenance, and full-cycle bookkeeping.
• Proven ability to prepare bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records across multiple properties.
• Experience supporting third-party managed properties and working within client-driven reporting environments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word, with the ability to analyze data and present clear financial information.
• Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced setting.
Compensation
