General Labor Clerk
The General Labor Clerk provides warehouse support in various areas. This may include moving boxes, cleaning up warehouse areas, Value Added Services, or other miscellaneous support requests.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Must be able to count, fold, remove product from cartons, read and any other requirements and label items according to vendor requirements.
- Sit-stand for 8 hours minimum and overtime when volume dictates.
- Must be able to perform basic tasks on the computer and in the Warehouse Management System (WMS)
- Support other departments when the workload is small.
- Shrink wrap, palletize shipments and maintain shipment integrity.
- Call out any errors or issues with the product.
- Moving boxes to/from staging areas using carts, hand trucks and manual pallet jacks
- Assemble boxes
- Labeling boxes for shipment
- Load, unload, and sort product when needed
- Assist with general projects such as re-packaging, building and assembling cardboard displays, etc.
- Value Added Services (VAS) tasks, including: price ticketing, labeling, bagging and other handling of product per customer specifications
- Hand stack pallets when loading/off-loading product from containers
- Shrink wrap products and material orders prior to loading on trucks
- Maintain safety standards in compliance with company policy and report issues to the supervisor
- General warehouse cleanup, including but not limited to, sweeping with a push broom and mopping warehouse floors, organizing warehouse racks and disposing of cardboard boxes/trash when necessary
- May assist with training new associates in basic job functions
- Must be willing to work required shift hours as assigned/required by management
- Excellent attendance and punctuality is expected

POSITION SPECIFICS:
- This is a full-time position
- Typical work hours and days are Monday – Friday, 5:00am-1:30pm
- Overtime will be assigned/required as business needs dictate
- No travel is expected for this position.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This position does not have any leadership requirements and/or responsibilities.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- 1-2 years of warehouse experience
- 1-2 years of experience operating equipment
- Forklift certified, willingness to be certified on different types of lifts
- The ability to communicate clearly and effectively (written and verbal);
- Must be able to read a limited number of two- and three- syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to write and speak simple sentences in English.
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment (multi-tasking skills a must);
- Good attendance record – arriving at work on time is critical to success
- Good attention to quality and detail
- Reliable, punctual and able to follow directions
- Ability to stand on feet for prolonged periods at a time with repetitive motions such as bending, stooping, pushing and pulling
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs boxes
- Ability to use basic computer devices and handheld scanning units
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Candidate must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with ability to: stand for long periods of time; ability to become certified (if operating equipment); constantly move about the warehouse; pulling/pushing a cart containing cartons; bend/stoop/kneel/crouch to handle product; regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations; and the ability to observe details at close range (within a few feed of the observer). The work environment is often noisy with honking from passing forklifts and experiences hot/cold temperature fluctuations due to outside weather.
