Job Summary:  

The Sourcing and Procurement Manager supervises and develops a team of buyers in the acquisition of operational goods and services ensuring timely resolution of quality, cost and delivery to meet corporate goals and objectives.  It is the responsibility of this position to oversee the development of all Requests for Quotes and Proposals, Capital Projects, support award selection, lead purchase negotiations and complete contract commitments.  The Procurement Manager drives process and budget improvements through continuous improvement incentives and enforces ethical and effective procurement practices within the buyer team.

 

NOTE: This role requires on-site presence at our Seal Beach, CA location minimum 4 days per week.



Responsibilities

  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Procurement staff including review of pending purchase requests and purchase orders, quotes & proposals, contracts, onboarding of suppliers, and performance metrics.
  • Provides procurement support and guidance for staff locating at remote locations
  • Supervises the activities of the Procurement staff for indirect commodities.
  • Negotiates and maintains purchasing contracts for the procurement of unique product groups and services. Provides technical expertise to other departments as part of cross-functional project teams.
  • Acts a liaison between internal departments and external customers in negotiating and finalizing contracts as well as providing status updates.
  • Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
  • Coordinates cost reduction initiatives within the department and cross functionally within the company.
  • Contributes to the development of department budget and monitors expenditures.
  • Works directly with VMI contact for ensuring adequate levels of inventory


Qualifications



  • Minimum of 5-8 years purchasing experience with at least 2 years at the manager/supervisory level.
  • Procurement background in the biotech/biopharma industry is preferred.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements that govern GMPs.
  • Experience with writing SOP’s, policies, and/or guidelines.
  • ERP experience is a must

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and mobile phone.
  • Ability to use computer, to read written materials and to complete paperwork activities;
  • Ability to communicate well with individuals by telephone and in person.
  • May be required to work alternate shifts.
