POSITION SUMMARY 

Be Here/1942 Exhibition Staff: 3-month Part-time, Temporary Position

The role of the exhibition staff is to assist visitors with both in-gallery and outdoor AR experiences.  The exhibition staff will explain what the installation is, demonstrate how to use the AR software on the iPad or camera device, monitor and troubleshoot the AR devices, walk visitors through the AR experience, provide basic interpretation of the installations, and answer visitor questions (both about the installation and general OMCA/customer service-related questions).

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Culture Setting

  • Engage in a positive culture of collaboration and mutual accountability with fellow temporary exhibition staff, frontline staff/contractors (Visitor Insights Specialists, Ticketing and Retail Associates, and Security Officers), and other staff across the organization.
  • Arrive at OMCA on time on the days scheduled.  
  • Follow training protocols and seek help from Visitor Insights Specialists for troubleshooting.
  • Communicate with the Director of Evaluation and Visitor Insights, Visitor Insights Specialists, and fellow temporary exhibition staff about any schedule changes and shift coverage for absences.
  • Relay visitor comments and complaints to the Director of Evaluation and Visitor Insights and Visitor Insights Specialists.

Exhibition

  • Support and guide visitors through both outdoor and in-gallery exhibit experiences with the Augmented Reality installations for the Be Here/1942 exhibition.
  • Conduct start-of-day and end-of-day duties to ensure the correct functioning of the AR devices using the tablet-based control device.
  • Facilitate visitors’ use of the AR devices: distribute and retrieve the AR devices, monitor AR devices' battery levels and temperatures using the tablet-based control device, clean AR devices as needed between uses, and demonstrate how to use the AR devices to visitors. 
  • Troubleshoot the AR devices with visitors, Visitor Insights Specialists, and Preparators, including problems with WIFI and device error codes shown on the tablet-based control device.
  • Provide basic interpretation of the installation and answer visitor questions (both about the installation and general OMCA/customer service-related questions).
  • Provide general OMCA visitor experience support as needed.

 



Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS

  • 1-2 years of customer service experience.
  • Experience and high level of comfort using iPhones, Android tablets, and troubleshooting technology, in general.
  • Must be able to attend a training on Wednesday, 9/16/26, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
  • The position is a three-month, temporary, part-time position that starts 9/16/26 and ends 12/27/26 (work schedule below)
  • Each position will have a specific schedule that must be adhered to.  To be hired for a position, you must be able to work the days/time of that position (see table, next page).  There is no flexibility with the schedule.
  • Ability to display and encourage visitor and internal customer service, take and share responsibility, and treat others with respect.
  • English language proficiency in both spoken and written form.  Other languages are a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of Gmail, Google Calendar, GChat, and other messaging apps.
  • Display a positive attitude when interacting with visitors and uphold OMCA’s mission and values. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision as necessary.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and across the institution.
