Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support day-to-day payment operations for a Long-term Contract position in Fort Collins, Colorado. This role focuses on maintaining accurate invoice processing, strengthening vendor account management, and helping ensure company payments are completed on schedule. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, sound knowledge of payable workflows, and the ability to stay organized in a busy accounting environment.

Responsibilities:
• Process supplier invoices with accuracy, assigning the appropriate account codes and entering transactions within established timelines.
• Compare invoices against purchase orders and receiving records to confirm charges are complete and properly supported before payment.
• Coordinate payment activity by preparing check runs, ACH transactions, and wire transfers in accordance with approval procedures.
• Reconcile vendor statements, investigate mismatches, and work toward timely resolution of billing or payment discrepancies.
• Maintain organized accounts payable files and supporting documentation to promote accurate recordkeeping and audit readiness.
• Respond to vendor questions regarding invoice and payment status with clear, attentive communication.
• Contribute to month-end tasks by assisting with accrual entries and account reconciliations related to payables.
• Follow company policies, internal controls, and accounting standards to help ensure compliant financial processing.
• Partner with internal teams to address billing concerns, documentation gaps, and payment-related issues efficiently.

Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience in accounts payable, including high-volume invoice handling and payment processing.
• Working knowledge of account coding and the ability to apply coding accurately across a range of invoices.
• Experience processing invoices and validating supporting documentation for payment approval.
• Familiarity with ACH payments, check runs, and other standard disbursement methods.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for tracking, reviewing, and organizing financial information.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and maintain accurate records.
• Effective organizational and time-management skills suited to a fast-paced work environment.

Compensation

$26.13-$30.25 Hourly
