Controller
A rapidly growing, operationally complex business is seeking a hands-on Director of Finance / Controller to serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership while overseeing the day-to-day accounting and finance function.
This role offers a unique opportunity to help build the financial infrastructure of a scaling organization operating across multiple service lines, inventory-intensive operations, logistics, procurement, warehousing, and project-based revenue streams.
The ideal candidate is equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves to manage the close process and financial reporting while also driving budgeting, forecasting, KPI development, profitability analysis, systems improvements, and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and management reporting packages
- Oversee general ledger, account reconciliations, accruals, cash reporting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
- Develop and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and operating procedures
- Establish scalable reporting processes, close calendars, and approval workflows
- Manage and develop accounting and finance staff
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning
- Build and maintain rolling forecasts for revenue, gross margin, EBITDA, cash flow, and operating expenses
- Analyze performance against budget, forecast, and prior periods
- Develop KPIs and dashboards that improve visibility into business performance
- Support strategic planning, scenario modeling, and investment decisions
Operational Finance & Business Partnership
- Build reporting and analytics around profitability by business line, project, customer, and service offering
- Evaluate pricing strategies, utilization metrics, contribution margins, and growth opportunities
- Identify operational efficiencies and opportunities for margin improvement
- Provide actionable insights to support revenue growth and informed decision-making
Inventory, Cost Accounting & Operations Support
- Oversee inventory accounting, fixed assets, cost accounting, and related controls
- Partner with operations teams on inventory management, cycle counts, procurement, warehousing, and logistics processes
- Monitor key cost drivers including labor, freight, inventory investment, procurement spend, and project profitability
- Improve visibility into inventory utilization, working capital, and operational performance
Systems & Process Improvement
- Drive finance transformation initiatives, reporting enhancements, and process improvements
- Evaluate and implement tools that improve reporting, business intelligence, and operational visibility
- Establish scalable finance infrastructure to support continued company growth
Qualifications:
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA strongly preferred
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- Experience leading month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting, cost accounting, and operational finance
- Proven ability to build processes, improve controls, and scale finance functions
- Advanced Excel skills; ERP and business intelligence experience preferred
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner across all levels of an organization
Compensation
