Staff Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Produce monthly financial statements for assigned properties with a strong focus on accuracy and timely completion.
• Complete recurring month-end accounting activities by following established close procedures and maintaining required supporting schedules.
• Reconcile bank accounts, investigate variances, and prepare documentation that supports account balances and financial reporting.
• Record journal entries, including monthly rent-related activity, and ensure each entry is backed by appropriate support.
• Review property-level transactions such as tenant charges, cash receipts, and vendor invoices to confirm data has been entered correctly.
• Work with Regional Property Managers and property owners to address accounting questions, resolve outstanding items, and finalize reporting packages.
• Process payments related to owner distributions, management fees, mortgages, taxes, insurance, and other recurring obligations in a timely manner.
• Respond to review comments from senior accounting staff, perform needed reclasses or corrections, and assist with special projects and other accounting duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business with a concentration in accounting from an accredited college or university.
• Foundational knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash management, bank reconciliations, and financial report support.
• Ability to prepare journal entries and work within the general ledger accurately and efficiently.
• Strong attention to detail with solid analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with team members, managers, and clients.
• Dependable, adaptable, and able to manage deadlines while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
• Experience with property management software is preferred.
