Staff Accountant

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a lean, fast-paced equipment sales and rental business in Little Rock, Arkansas. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for someone who enjoys owning core accounting processes, maintaining accurate records, and supporting a team in a hands-on environment. The role will focus on day-to-day accounting operations, month-end reporting, and account reconciliation while helping bring structure to receivables and routine financial activities. Candidates who are comfortable working independently and stepping in where needed will be well suited for this position.

Responsibilities:
• Manage daily accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, maintaining timely processing and accurate documentation across both functions.
• Review outstanding customer balances, resolve discrepancies, and help organize receivables records to improve overall account accuracy.
• Perform bank reconciliations and maintain reliable financial records within QuickBooks Online and related accounting systems.
• Prepare month-end financial reports using standard system-generated reporting and ensure information is complete and ready for review.
• Support accounting operations tied to both equipment sales and rental inventory while coordinating closely with internal team members.
• Assist with general bookkeeping tasks and maintain organized records for a business handling a wide range of equipment transactions.
• Provide occasional front-office support by greeting visitors or helping process basic sales activity when office coverage is needed.
• Work in a practical warehouse and counter environment, including handling materials or items up to 50 pounds when business needs require it.
• Contribute during the transition away from a legacy accounting platform by helping maintain clean records and supporting continuity in daily processes.

Qualifications:

• Prior experience in bookkeeping or staff accounting with direct responsibility for accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks, including the ability to navigate daily transactions, reconciliations, and reporting functions.
• Experience completing bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate general accounting records.
• Ability to work independently in a small team setting and take ownership of routine accounting responsibilities.
• Comfortable working in an environment connected to equipment sales, rentals, and inventory-related activity.
• Willingness to assist with light front-office coverage and interact professionally with walk-in visitors when needed.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as part of a hands-on operational setting.
• Forklift certification is a plus, or willingness to obtain certification through employer-provided training.

Compensation

$18.53-$21.45 Hourly
