Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a team in Englewood, Colorado on a part-time Contract basis. In this role, you will provide hands-on accounting support for roughly 20 hours per week, helping maintain accurate financial records and keep core processes moving smoothly through August. This position is well suited for someone who can step in quickly, work independently, and contribute across daily accounting activities in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:
• Record and post routine journal entries, including intercompany activity and period-end adjustments.
• Reconcile balance sheet and other assigned accounts to ensure accuracy and timely issue resolution.
• Contribute to month-end close by organizing supporting schedules and completing assigned accounting tasks.
• Review and assist with property tax reconciliations and related cleanup efforts across accounting records.
• Handle a range of transactional accounting requests as business needs arise.
• Work closely with the Assistant Controller to support accurate reporting and consistent ledger maintenance.
• Provide dependable accounting coverage during a period of limited team capacity.
• Assist with general ledger upkeep and help resolve outstanding discrepancies in financial data.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a staff accountant or general ledger accounting role.
• Proven ability to prepare journal entries and complete account reconciliations accurately.
• Working knowledge of Excel, including the ability to manage and review accounting data.
• Strong understanding of core accounting principles and day-to-day financial processes.
• Ability to manage assigned responsibilities independently and meet deadlines in a part-time schedule.
• High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
• Exposure to corporate tax, sales tax, or related tax accounting activities is preferred.
• Experience with Newstar is helpful, but not required.

Compensation

$29.45-$34.10 Hourly
