Security Network Engineer

Montpelier, VT 05620, US Remote Temporary

We are looking for a Security Network Engineer to support a long-term contract engagement in Montpelier, Vermont. This position is ideal for a senior consultant who can oversee complex platform upgrade initiatives while strengthening network security, maintaining operational stability, and coordinating effectively with technical and business teams. The role requires hands-on expertise across enterprise security infrastructure, with a strong focus on planning, execution, validation, and post-implementation support.

Responsibilities:
• Direct enterprise-level upgrade initiatives for Ivanti platforms, managing activities from initial assessment through production rollout and stabilization.
• Review the current technical environment and create practical upgrade plans, schedules, and risk mitigation strategies aligned with business needs.
• Perform platform upgrades, patch deployments, and related migration tasks while limiting service disruption and preserving system integrity.
• Investigate and resolve technical issues that arise during upgrade efforts, tuning systems to improve reliability, security, and overall performance.
• Partner with infrastructure, cybersecurity, and business stakeholders to coordinate change activity, communicate progress, and address operational concerns.
• Produce clear technical documentation covering procedures, configurations, validation results, and support guidance for ongoing maintenance.
• Support network security operations involving firewall technologies, routing, and perimeter controls within enterprise environments.

Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of experience in security engineering, network infrastructure, or a closely related technical field.
• Demonstrated success leading Ivanti upgrade projects in live enterprise environments.
• Strong working knowledge of Ivanti platforms such as Neurons, Endpoint Manager, and related solutions.
• Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco routers, and Cisco ASA technologies.
• Solid understanding of Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and core network security principles.
• Background in enterprise change management, including planning, coordination, testing, and production support.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to work across technical teams and business stakeholders.
