Payroll Specialist

A rapidly expanding professional services organization is seeking a Payroll Specialist to manage payroll processing, reporting, and compliance activities for a multi-state workforce. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside Human Resources and Accounting leadership while supporting critical payroll functions. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and experienced with high-volume payroll environments.

Responsibilities

Payroll Processing

• Process biweekly and semi-monthly payroll for hourly and salaried employees
• Audit timesheets, earnings, deductions, and tax withholdings
• Maintain payroll records and employee information
• Process bonuses, commissions, garnishments, and payroll adjustments
• Ensure payroll is completed accurately and on schedule

Compliance & Reporting

• Assist with payroll tax reporting and year-end processing
• Support payroll audits and compliance reviews
• Reconcile payroll reports and general ledger accounts
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations

Employee Support

• Respond to employee payroll inquiries
• Coordinate with HR regarding employee changes and onboarding activities
• Assist with payroll system updates and process improvements

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of payroll processing experience
• Experience with ADP Workforce Now, UKG, Paylocity, Paycom, or similar systems
• Multi-state payroll experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of California payroll laws and regulations
• Advanced Excel skills preferred
