What You Will Do
- The Clinical Lead provides advanced clinical leadership and direct mental health services within Counseling Services and the integrated Cougar Care model. This position supports same-day access, crisis response, triage, management of high-acuity and complex cases, continuity of care, and coordination across services. Direct clinical service is provided strategically to support timely access and stabilization needs rather than maintaining a traditional ongoing caseload.
- This role also provides clinical supervision and oversight for staff and practicum students through individual and group supervision, consultation, training, and professional development. The position supports quality of care, staff development, and sustainability of training services.
- The Clinical Lead strengthens front-line clinical capacity, improves timely access to care, reduces service bottlenecks, and supports stepped-care pathways and crisis response efforts across the counseling center. Students benefit through increased access to responsive mental health services that support academic success, retention, safety, and overall well-being. Staff and trainees benefit from consistent clinical oversight and support, while the institution benefits from a more sustainable and integrated care model aligned with professional standards and the Mental Health Early Action on Campus Act (110 ILCS 58).

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
- Licensed (or license eligible) in the State of Illinois for independent clinical practice.
-Training in DSM-5-TR diagnosis and classifications, therapeutic orientations, and treatment modalities required.
-2+ years of training in clinical supervision, as evidenced by coursework or continuing education units, and experience providing clinical supervision, counseling leadership, or clinical mentoring.
-Minimum of three years of post-graduate clinical experience in a mental health setting
-Years can be concurrent
Experience in crisis intervention, behavioral health consultations, and case management. Understanding of suicide risk assessment and ability to intervene with individual who may be at risk for harm to self or others. Ability to work cooperatively as a clinical team member and strong written and oral communication skills required.
