What You Will Do

• The Facilities Management Tree Surgeon performs skilled labor in connection with grounds
  maintenance or construction. Under general supervision, maintains and trims trees and shrubs of various heights to promote their health and appearance.

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

1. Three (3) years/36 months of experience in a professional environment or a nursery involving the maintenance of trees, shrubs, and gardens.
2. One (1) year/12 months of experience in a professional environment or nursery involving significant responsibility with the maintenance of trees, shrubs,and gardens.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Knowledge if materials, methods, tools, and equipment to be used
2. Knowledge of insects and plant life diseases and methods to control them.
3. Knowledge of safe practices and willingness and ability to follow them.
4. Knowledge and use of inter-grated pest Management (IPM)
5. Supervisory ability & ability to follow instructions.

Illinois Residency Requirement : Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.

Illinois residency requires proof of a valid Illinois Drivers License or state of Illinois ID Card. Failure to produce the required documentation within 180 calendar days is grounds for immediate separation.
