Our Engineering Technician role is responsible for onsite and reporting support on various projects including documentation, field inspection, and project reports. The Engineering Technician will support technology-based projects supporting a variety of roadway projects. The Engineering Technician will be responsible for traveling to and working at project sites, with data entry and documentation completed at our Lisle, IL office.


Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Monitor onsite activities for projects across multiple disciplines and companies
  • Act as an inspector on job sites following contract and project guidelines
  • Perform standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations
  • Includes a role as a hands-on Field Technician
  • Initiate action as needed to ensure projects follow contract and compliance obligations
  • Conduct standardized tests for multiple projects and report out on results to project teams
  • Gather and maintain data including testing results and drawings
  • Schedule and attend job meetings
  •  Assemble and distribute meeting minutes
  • Provide support to the Project Team to help ensure those project deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality
  • Perform other duties as required/directed

 

Requirements:
  • An Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • An Engineering degree from an accredited university is preferred
  • 0-7 years of experience, preferably in engineering, project or construction management; transportation and construction industries preferred
  • Previous field inspection experience is preferred
  • Past GIS experience is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, administrative, and organizational skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, work and communicate effectively in a team environment, and meet deadlines
  • Experience using MS Office suite, Microstation or AutoCAD and industry related project management software
