Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Maintenance Plumber/ Pipefitter – Level 2 or Level 3 to join our team in Promontory, UT.
In this role, you will perform critical preventative maintenance, complex troubleshooting, system repairs, and new construction of on-plant facilities. Working under the guidance of qualified journeyman pipefitters, you will handle high-pressure infrastructure and specialized industrial machinery essential to our facility's operational throughput.
This position will work a 4/10 schedule, with every Friday off (requires periodic weekend and off-shift coverage).
Your Role and Impact:
System Troubleshooting, Repair & Installation
- High-Pressure Infrastructure: Diagnose, repair, and maintain high-pressure steam lines, condensate lines, and related industrial process equipment.
- Facility Plumbing: Install, troubleshoot, and repair underground water systems, sewer systems, facility appliances, and commercial fixtures.
- New Construction: Fabricate, route, and install utility piping for new plant facilities, upgraded equipment, and specialized tooling.
Safety, Quality Control & Compliance
- Safety First Mindset: Actively demonstrate safe work habits, adhere strictly to OSHA guidelines, and maintain job site safety using required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Operational Execution: Follow verbal instructions and written work orders delivered by supervision, ensuring all work conforms strictly to local building codes.
- Professional Development: Complete designated classroom training on your own time within the established time frames to obtain your Journeyman Pipefitter certification. Blueprint Interpretation: Read, analyze, and precisely interpret complex engineering blueprints, isometrics, and technical shop drawings.
- Material Manipulation: Measure, cut, thread, bend, and shape metal and non-metal pipes to precise specifications using saws, mechanical threaders, and pipe-bending machines.
- System Expertise: Advanced troubleshooting, repair, and field experience working on complex, heavy-industrial steam and condensate loops.
Typical Tools & Equipment used:
- Cutting & Machining: Pipe cutters, mechanical threading machines, industrial saws, and grinders.
- Measurement & Layout: Calipers, micrometers, pressure gauges, levels, and hydrostatic testing equipment.
- Access & Rigging: Boom lifts, scissor lifts, forklifts, and standard rigging gear.

Basic Qualifications for Level 2:
- High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
- No clearance required to start
- Journeyman’s licensed, or 2+ years of related industrial plumbing or pipefitting experience. Prior experience working with high-pressure steam and condensate systems is strongly preferred

- High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Vocational courses covering shop mechanics, technical drafting, back-flows, and mathematics.
- Must be fully capable of obtaining and maintaining a federal clearance under the Federal Safe Explosives Act (SEA).

Primary Level Salary Range: $62,700.00 - $104,500.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $74,500.00 - $124,100.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
