Project Accountant

Compensation: $28 to $31.25 Hourly

We are looking for a Project Accountant to support construction-focused financial operations in Sanford, Florida. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is ideal for someone who brings strong project accounting experience and can manage job cost visibility, billing accuracy, and financial reporting across active projects. The role will work closely with project and operational teams to keep financial data organized, timely, and aligned with business objectives.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee the financial setup and ongoing accounting activities for construction-related projects, ensuring records are accurate from project launch through closeout.
• Monitor project costs, track budget performance, and identify variances so stakeholders can make informed decisions throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare and maintain client billing, revenue tracking, and supporting documentation in accordance with contract terms and internal controls.
• Reconcile project accounts and review financial data regularly to confirm completeness, accuracy, and proper allocation of expenses.
• Partner with project managers and internal teams to provide clear insight into job performance, cash flow, and cost trends.
• Generate recurring and ad hoc reports to support forecasting, financial analysis, and project-level decision-making.
• Maintain accounting data within Deltek and Deltek Vision, including updates, review of project information, and system-based reporting.
• Support accounting process improvements or system-related changes affecting project financial tracking when needed.

Qualifications:

• Experience in project accounting with a strong focus on construction or project-based environments.
• Working knowledge of construction accounting principles, including job cost tracking, billing, and revenue recognition.
• Hands-on experience using Deltek, including Deltek Vision, for project financial management and reporting.
• Ability to analyze project financial activity, reconcile accounts, and resolve discrepancies with attention to detail.
• Strong understanding of cost control, budget monitoring, and financial reporting for active projects.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across accounting, operations, and project teams.
• Proficiency in organizing multiple priorities and managing deadlines in a fast-paced setting.

Compensation

$28.00-$31.25 Hourly
