SBA Underwriter

We are seeking an experienced SBA 7(a) Loan Underwriter to support a growing lending operation on an ongoing contract basis. This is a fully remote opportunity ideal for professionals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a strong background underwriting SBA loans from application through approval.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable independently analyzing credit risk, reviewing complex financial statements, and ensuring compliance with SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Responsibilities

• Underwrite SBA 7(a) loan applications in accordance with SBA guidelines and internal credit policies
• Analyze business and personal tax returns, financial statements, cash flow, and collateral
• Assess borrower creditworthiness and repayment capacity
• Prepare detailed credit memorandums and underwriting recommendations
• Review loan structures to ensure compliance with SBA SOP requirements
• Identify and communicate underwriting exceptions and potential risks
• Partner with loan officers, processors, and closing teams throughout the lending process
• Maintain accurate documentation and underwriting files
• Meet production goals while maintaining quality and compliance standards

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of SBA 7(a) underwriting experience required
• Strong knowledge of SBA SOPs and lending regulations
• Experience underwriting loans across a variety of industries and borrower profiles
• Ability to analyze business financial statements, tax returns, and cash flow projections
• Strong credit writing and risk assessment skills
• Experience with SBA delegated lending programs preferred
