We are looking for a meticulous and reliable Staff Accountant to join our team in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. This role offers the opportunity to take on a variety of accounting and financial responsibilities while working closely with senior leadership. The ideal candidate is someone who values professionalism, thrives in a detailed-oriented environment, and is seeking a long-term position with growth potential.

*Full bookkeeping functions, including the general ledger PLUS exposure to full office functions in order to be part of the team!!

• Some involvement with basic HR functions, like handling new hire paperwork, some previous exposure to benefits administration to at least understand enough to answer employee questions, etc.
• Experience with annual 1099-NEC/MISC filing.
• Payroll experience with general understanding of laws per paying out terminated people etc.
• Budgeting and income statement variance analysis using Excel.

 

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping, with a strong focus on accounts payable and billing.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including the ability to create and manage complex spreadsheets.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
• Experience managing payroll processes and reconciling financial data.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple financial entities and reporting requirements.
• Familiarity with general ledger activities, journal entries, and accruals.
• Previous experience working in a small business or family-run organization is highly desirable.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a commitment to reliability and accuracy.
