SALARIED: These employees are exempt and paid on a salaried basis on the 15th and last working day of each month. They are expected to work 40 hours each week, and are eligible for most fringe benefits offered by the Bank.


JOB SUMMARY:

Manages the operations of the Auditing Department and assists in developing and implementing the internal audit plan for Central Bancshares, Central Bank & Trust Co., and any/all subsidiaries (entity). Manages the loan review program to ensure loans follow bank lending policies and risk guidelines.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

* Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field

* Five years of accounting/auditing experience, to include experience as an independent auditor of bank financial statements or a bank internal auditor or other banking experience related to financial statements and/or internal controls

* Two+ years’ supervisory experience

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:

* Must have good typing skills, calculator skills, and computer skills

* Working knowledge of Word, Excel and the Internet

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Proven strength in research, analysis, problem solving, organization, time management, interpersonal skills and customer service

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Collaborates with the Chief Risk Officer to develop a risk-based audit plan for the Company and serves as a team leader for audits, including planning, performing, and reviewing audits, reporting the audit results, recommending improvements and monitoring corrective action.

2. Performs supervisory responsibilities to include interviewing and selecting new hires; training and mentoring personnel; making audit and other work assignments; reviewing and approving audit work papers and report drafts; monitoring employee performance and completing performance appraisals; ensuring adherence to the audit plan and schedule; and administering discipline.

3. Reviews the audit work performed by the Chief Risk Officer and other audit staff, including reviewing the audit work papers and report drafts, and provides feedback to ensure quality and consistency.

4. Oversees the development and implementation of the annual loan review plan, including identifying high risk areas for inclusion in the plan; maintains Loan Review Operating Policy that describes the responsibilities of the loan review function.

5. Recommends third-party loan review contractor for Audit and Examining Committee approval; coordinates periodic reviews and committee presentations; and, ensures that reviews meet annual loan review plan and scope.

6. Oversees the control testing performed for FDICIA to ensure timely completion, communication of results, and remediation efforts for any deficiencies noted.

7. Assists with the review and tie-out of the annual financial statements.

8. Performs employee account reviews of Bank employees based on established risk factors. Appropriately communicates any concerns or red flags for further review and evaluation.

9. Maintains the audit finding tracking spreadsheet and ensures it is updated quarterly for presentation to the Audit & Examining Committee.

10. In the absence of the Chief Risk Officer, facilitates meetings of the Audit and Examining Committee, including setting the agenda, preparing the meeting materials, conducting the meeting along with the committee chairman, and approving the meeting minutes.

11. Serves as an information resource to personnel regarding policies and procedures; accounting, auditing and internal control matters; and regulatory compliance matters.

12. Keeps informed of changes and developments in the banking industry and bank auditing, accounting and auditing standards, and current banking laws, regulations and compliance issues through self-study, continuing professional education and personal contact with peers, regulators and independent auditors, accountants and consultants.

13. Performs administrative and supervisory duties including, but not limited to: approving time reporting and employee absences, assisting in developing the department’s annual budget, fulfilling requests for information from outside the department, and approving the actions of direct reports.

14. Assists independent auditors, accountants and consultants in the performance of their work through direct assistance, coordinating the assistance of other bank personnel or gathering records and information; and collaborates with the Chief Risk Officer to coordinate the bank’s response to identified exceptions and to monitor the implementation of recommendations.

15. Assists regulatory examiners in the performance of their work through direct assistance or gathering records and information, and collaborates with the Chief Risk Officer to monitor corrective action.

16. Develops and conducts training programs to educate personnel regarding audit and internal control matters, compliance requirements and policies and procedures.

17. Complies with the mandatory guidance expressed in The IIA’s International Professional Practices Framework, including but not limited to the Code of Ethics and the Global Internal Audit Standards, and the continuing professional education requirements expressed in the Internal Audit Department’s Policies and Procedures Manual.

18. Participates as a member or attendee of the Watch Loan Committee, Operational Risk Committee, Credit Risk Committee, and Senior Loan Committee. Also, attends monthly meetings of the Auditing & Examining Committee to record minutes, ensure appropriate follow-up of action items, and to present loan review updates.

19. Performs other duties as assigned
