The Role:
Northrop Grumman Australia is growing the Triton team and looking for an engineer who wants to be closer to the action, in this brand new role.
This isn’t a design role or a purely desk-based job. You’ll be the engineer maintenance turns to when something doesn’t go to plan, helping resolve real issues that directly impact whether the aircraft flies.
The MQ‑4C Triton is a high‑altitude, long‑endurance autonomous aircraft supporting surveillance and intelligence missions. In Australia, it’s still early in its lifecycle, so you’ll be solving problems as they emerge and helping shape how the platform is supported, working closely with local teams and US-based counterparts.
Australian Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 AGSVA security clearance are mandatory to be considered for this opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
You won’t be following a script. You’ll be solving real engineering problems as they happen.
- Act as the primary point of contact for engineering support requests (RES)
- Investigate and resolve defects, faults and technical issues, often within 24–48 hours
- Provide clear, practical engineering advice and dispositions that maintenance can act on
- Build strong relationships with Tindal-based maintenance teams and coordinators
- Work with US Navy support teams to troubleshoot complex issues and improve system maturity
About You
You enjoy solving problems, not just documenting them.
- Experience in or alongside a maintenance organisation (Defence or civilian aviation)
- Comfortable working with ambiguous information and time-critical requests
- Able to turn technical problems into clear, practical actions
- Understand how engineering, maintenance and operations connect
- Motivated by work that has a direct impact on real-world operations
