Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Chief Engineer for the F-22 sustainment portfolio within Baltimore and Partnered Sites Division’s Foundational Systems Engineering (BU). This leader will be responsible for Engineering program execution across all programs within the F-22 portfolio and represent the Engineering & Sciences organization. This position will be located in Baltimore, MD and is a full-time on-site position and will report to the Engineering Leadership Section Manager.

What You’ll Get to Do: 

  • The individual will be responsible for technical execution, technology development strategies, and programmatic coordination across the F-22 sustainment portfolio in addition to:

  • Lead timely execution of engineering activities across Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) while staying within scope and budget.

  • Implement technical plans and pinpoint the resources required to meet contractual deliverables.

  • Apply deep experience in engineering, manufacturing, logistics, and sustainment support.

  • Demonstrate proven ability to lead cross functional engineering teams, mentor staff, and supervise electronic and electromechanical assembly operations.

  • Utilize strong expertise in process engineering oversight, lean manufacturing (5S), and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Conduct environmental, electronic, and mechanical testing; develop processes; and perform failure analysis (RCCA, FRACAS, CAR, MRB) to ensure system reliability.

  • Engage customers effectively, manage programs, and oversee project planning and EVMS cost account control.

  • Consistently deliver projects on schedule, within budget, and to rigorous compliance standards.

This position is contingent upon the successful transfer of an active U.S Government Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP). 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 8 years of experience, a Master's degree with 6 years of experience, or a PhD with 4 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or other related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Active U.S Government Secret Clearance.

  • Ability to obtain/maintain Special Program Access (SAP).

  • Demonstrated success leading high performance, cross-functional technical teams.

  • Experience in systems, hardware, and/or software engineering for architecture, design, integration, verification/validation, production, and/or post-production support in a military/aerospace product environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical fields.

  • Active U.S Government Top Secret Clearance.

  • Demonstrated ability to act as the technical point of contact to Executive leadership and/or Customers stakeholder addressing technical requests and translating into actionable deliveries.

  • Experience in driving schedule, cost, and risk management to ensure projects stay on track, within budget, and resilient to uncertainties.

  • Proven domain expertise in defense grade electronic systems

  • Comprehensive understanding of Department of Defense systems engineering requirements and standards

  • Strong proficiency with earned value management (EVM) methodology and its practical application

Primary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 - $203,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
