Reconciliation Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Reconcile settlement activity each day by matching account balances to processor reporting and investigating any differences identified.
• Review reserve account transactions regularly to confirm accuracy against supporting processor data and maintain balanced records.
• Analyze summarized financial postings to trace underlying transaction details and explain account activity clearly.
• Research variances and out-of-balance items, determine root causes, and complete corrective actions to keep accounts current.
• Prepare and record assigned transactional entries as needed to support accurate financial reporting.
• Organize, scan, and retain reconciliation files and supporting documentation to ensure complete audit-ready workpapers.
• Contribute to weekly and month-end accounting tasks, including financial reviews, project support, and variance analysis.
• Partner with internal teams and external contacts to address questions, provide updates, and resolve reconciliation issues efficiently.
Qualifications:
• At least 3 years of accounting experience, including work with reconciliations in a high-volume transaction environment.• Hands-on experience with large-scale accounting platforms and the ability to navigate financial systems effectively.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger activity and account reconciliation principles, including balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, along with working proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications.
• Demonstrated ability to identify discrepancies, investigate financial exceptions, and bring issues to resolution quickly.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain accuracy under pressure.
• Background in financial reconciliation, credit card reconciliation, or settlement-related accounting activities is highly valued.
• Exposure to merchant processing, reserve accounts, or similar payment-related reporting is preferred.
