Staff Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Manage end-to-end payroll processing for hourly and salaried employees, ensuring time records are reviewed, corrected when needed, and submitted accurately for approval and payment.
• Maintain the general ledger by preparing journal entries, reviewing account activity, and keeping financial data aligned with company records.
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations on a routine basis to identify discrepancies and support accurate month-end reporting.
• Prepare customer billing and process expense reclassifications to ensure costs are recorded in the appropriate accounts.
• Handle sales and use tax filings and assist with other corporate tax-related accounting activities as assigned.
• Support month-end close by organizing financial data, producing payroll-related reports, and helping finalize required accounting entries.
• Work with accounts payable and inventory team members when cross-functional coordination is needed to resolve accounting issues.
• Set up payroll garnishments based on approved documentation and maintain accurate deductions within the payroll system.
• Use the current payroll platform during onboarding and contribute to process updates or future system-related payroll support as needed.
Qualifications:
• Experience in staff accounting, payroll processing, or a closely related accounting function.• Working knowledge of general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Familiarity with sales tax, corporate tax support, or other transactional tax processes.
• Ability to manage payroll details for a mixed hourly and salaried workforce with a high level of accuracy.
• Proficiency in reviewing and correcting timekeeping data prior to payroll submission.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle recurring deadlines such as payroll cycles and month-end close.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with accounting and operational teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is welcome; entry-level candidates may also be considered.
