Patient Account Representative
Patient Account Representative needed for a hospital in the San Fernando Valley. The Patient Account Representative is ideal for someone that had 2+ years of experience in medical billing and/or collections. The Patient Account Representative will be responsible for managing patient accounts, resolving billing issues, processing payments, and working with patients, insurers, and internal departments to ensure accurate and timely account resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and manage patient accounts to ensure accurate billing and timely follow-up
- Contact insurance companies, patients, and hospital departments regarding claim status, payment issues, and account discrepancies
- Process payments, adjustments, refunds, and account updates in accordance with hospital policies
- Investigate and resolve denied, underpaid, or unpaid claims
- Assist patients with billing questions, payment arrangements, and financial responsibility explanations
- Maintain accurate documentation of account activity in billing and hospital systems
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, hospital policies, and applicable billing regulations
- Support month-end reporting and account reconciliation activities as needed
Qualifications:
• At least 2 years of experience in medical billing, patient accounts, or healthcare collections.• Working knowledge of medical claims processing, including follow-up on denied or unpaid accounts.
• Experience handling insurance plans such as HMO and PPO and understanding related billing workflows.
• Familiarity with hospital billing forms and processes, including UB-92 and UB-04 documentation.
• Ability to explain billing information clearly to patients while providing attentive customer service.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records and account documentation.
• Comfortable using healthcare billing systems and working across teams to resolve account issues.
Compensation
