Staff Accountant
We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for a Contract position based in Youngstown, Ohio. This opportunity is well suited for someone who can manage financial reporting, maintain accurate records, and contribute to month-end and year-end close activities. The role also involves collaborating across departments to ensure sound accounting practices, timely processing, and reliable financial data. This position is onsite 5 days and 40 hours a week.
Responsibilities:
• Produce monthly and annual financial reports with a strong focus on accuracy, completeness, and deadlines
• Oversee general ledger activity by recording, reviewing, and reconciling transactions across accounting periods
• Administer fixed asset accounting, including schedule maintenance, depreciation entries, and related recordkeeping
• Carry out cost accounting analysis to support operational reporting and informed financial decision-making
• Contribute to budgeting efforts by assisting with financial reviews, variance analysis, and planning support
• Examine accounts payable invoices for correct coding and help ensure payments are processed on schedule
• Follow applicable accounting standards, internal policies, and ethical guidelines in all financial activities
• Communicate effectively with leadership, vendors, and internal teams to resolve accounting questions and support daily operations
• Safeguard sensitive financial data and participate in team meetings to support departmental objectives
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting• At least one year of experience in general accounting is preferred
• Working knowledge of general ledger processes, financial accounting, and cost accounting principles
• Experience with accounting systems such as NetSuite and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Familiarity with month-end close, budgeting support, fixed assets, and account analysis
• Understanding of GAAP and basic audit-related practices
• Strong organizational skills with careful attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in a business environment
