Compensation: $50 to $60 Hourly

We are looking for an experienced Controller to support a non-profit organization in Detroit, Michigan through a Contract assignment. This role will oversee core accounting operations, guide financial reporting activities, and help maintain strong fiscal discipline across the organization. The ideal candidate brings hands-on leadership in budgeting, close management, audit coordination, and grant-related financial oversight within a non-profit environment.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee the monthly close cycle, ensuring financial records are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
• Prepare and review financial statements and consolidated reporting packages for leadership and external parties.
• Drive the annual budget process while supporting forecasting and broader financial planning activities.
• Partner with auditors and manage audit preparation to promote compliance with applicable standards and regulatory requirements.
• Administer grant-related accounting activities, including tracking funds and maintaining supporting documentation for compliance purposes.
• Apply non-profit accounting standards across daily operations to ensure reporting integrity and proper fund management.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to refine accounting workflows and improve overall process efficiency.

Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of accounting or finance experience, including leadership responsibility within controllership or assistant controller functions.

• Strong background in budgeting, financial consolidations, and managing month-end close activities.

• Experience working in Microsoft Dynamics, highly preferred.

• Demonstrated experience supporting audits and handling grant accounting in a non-profit setting.

• Solid understanding of non-profit accounting principles, compliance expectations, and reporting practices.

• Effective leadership and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and guide finance-related initiatives.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required.


Compensation

$50.00-$60.00 Hourly
